Once the receiver is soldered and the leadpipe cleaned up, I go back to the valve cluster to "rag" it. The old solder marks (from the cornet braces) will be polished away.
The bench vise is holding the wicking while I move the work back and forth. You wouldn't want to secure the valve casing to any holding device - it's too fragile!
After a few minutes of ragging, the valve cluster has now, a new luster! ;-)
