While I wait for the lacquer remover to do its thing, I gather up the old cornet parts and place them together in a box. Though I'll be using new braces, if needed, two of these cornet braces could be used to mount the leadpipe and bell to the valve cluster. You can see these two braces in the photo below, just under the finger hook of the leadpipe.
Next, it's back over to the sink and the valve casing. It's time to clean off the residue!
