Someone had previously relacquered this horn with spray-on lacquer. This lacquer tends to burn quite easily, even if you're careful. The baked-on epoxy type lacquer is much more durable and has been the lacquer Bach has used for many many years.
Over to the wet side of the shop, I use a commercially available lacquer remover:
Note: It's important to protect your eyes and skin and have plenty of ventilation when doing this sort of work!!!
