Whenever possible, I like to drill the waterkey hole first. This way it's easy to remove any possible burrs.

Using the bench motor, I drill the hole by hand. No need for speed here. Prior to this step, I marked and piloted the spot to be drilled. (There really are too many procedures to show everything that is done, so the pages presented here are more like highlights.)

A clean cut and luckily, no inside burrs.

Next, I think I'll buff the crook to remove tooling and machining marks left when the crook was manufactured. This will help the person who does the final buffing prior to this instrument receiving its finish of plating or lacquering.
